About Pre-Site Support

The Loft

Intent

Located in Bowling next to Bowling Park Primary School on New Cross Street, The Loft serves as a pre-site assessment centre for up to 8 students. Students will attend either AM or PM sessions for initial assessments and to ensure students are stable and familiar with our ways of working prior to moving to one of the other sites to access full time education. Students will only attend this site for a short period of time.

Implementation

The Loft offer at Bradford AP Academy aims to prepare students for transition to a full time placement at one of our larger sites. Students will complete preliminary assessments to identify current gaps and their ability to move towards work related expectations. Through the teaching of age-appropriate work in the core subjects of English and Maths, together with practical subjects of art and cooking, we aim to improve their confidence as well as their social, emotional and mental health and well-being.By striking the right balance between core subjects and practical skills for each individual student, trust is established through positive relationships. This supports in building their confidence and helps to prepare them for transition to our larger sites with the minimum of anxiety and the best prospect of success. Students, when ready to move on, will be individually supported into the next educational phase of their journey.

 

The Bungalow

Intent

The Bungalow offer at Bradford AP Academy aims to support students who display signs of EBSA characteristics and SEMH to enable them to increase their confidence, self-esteem and to re-engage with their learning.  

This provision aims to re-engage students who have been out of education for an extended period of time, or are experiencing anxiety or trauma that prohibits them from successfully engaging in full time education. This is through a flexible curriculum that is adapted to the needs of the individual student. This supports the students to develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in a small group setting before progressing onto a main BAPA site and ultimately into a long-term educational setting.  

Implementation

The Bungalow offer at Bradford AP Academy aims to provide an anxiety-free learning experience using a practical approach to literacy and numeracy, to help build confidence and independent skills.  With a flexible curriculum the timetable is adapted to the needs of each individual student.

The Bungalow is a quiet, nurturing and supportive environment. Staff ratio varies according to need of each individual student. Trust is established through positive relationships. This supports students in building confidence to prepare them for reintegration into their next educational setting.
